Brubakers

Jim's York Pub Guide

Brubakers
NB - Brubrakers closed in mid 2001 and was re-opened as a Premier Lodge.

For a time, this was one of Yorks happening places, until everyone realised it was shite. It's still mobbed every weekend, and if you're into "people watching" you're sure to spot a few new specimens here. It's a good pub to visit on your own. If you visit in a group, you'll feel on your own anyway - the ear-splitting music defies conversation. You can watch the vast banks of video screens instead.

To me, Brubaker's is like the girl who believes she is the life and soul of every party, telling you to enjoy yourself, pulling you up to dance and stating how "mad" she is before going home alone to cry herself to sleep. It's noise, flashing lights, video ga-ga, vodka and Red Bull, white handbags, shaved heads and beer guts, but so is the rest of Micklegate.
