| If tourists annoy you, then walk a hundred yards from the King's Arms and have a beer
in the Lowther instead. About five notices at the bar will tell you NOT to take your drink outside as for some
absurd reason they can't get a pavement licence allowing you to drink on King's Staith. The pub itself looks a
bit scrubby in the cold light of day, but somehow it adds to the appeal and it's more like a bar you'd find down
by the Tyne or Clyde than the Ouse. Packed at the weekends, you might want to visit the pub restaurant when it's
quieter. |
