I may never reach the standard
of The Sunday Times' A.A. Gill, who can close restaurants with a review,
but I think people visiting York need to know what to expect when dining
out. So, based on extensive visits (one) and selecting a variety of foods
on offer (a starter and a main course), I have recorded my opinions on
the York eating experience under the headings below.

"The taste - flavour is too flimsy a word - the taste grows inside your head until your ears start to retch. It is kraken-wake puss. It's like nothing on earth, but just as an exercise, try to imagine a sheep with gingivitis that has lived solely on old curry tins and cigar butts sneezing cud into your mouth". |
