Jim's York Pub Guide

The Royal Oak

Another pub I wish was my local. Real ale, real food, real decor, no music banging off the walls, newspapers to read, coffee for the wife, wide selection of wine, cosy snugs to sup in on a winter's eve. The sense that a pub has been pieced together and grown over the years is becoming rarer - this one's been here since the sixteenth century. It's also right next door to another of it's kind, The Golden Slipper. Hope they're both here for another four hundred years.
They have also a Website giving more information and a history of the pub - click here to visit.
(Ever wondered why so many pubs are called the
Royal Oak?)
