| Along with Brewer's Fare, Little Chef, BP Garages and Armitage Shanks, here's a brand
name you can trust. I jest. I hate this creeping homoginisation of UK town centres. Okay, the place is nice and
freshly painted inside, they serve real ale alongside designer bottles and their menu strives to differ, but what's
it all about? They seem to want to offer some sort of branded credentials to their customers, but surely the point
of your local is that it is local to you! The Slug and Lettuce is just too manufactured, the product of focus groups,
marketing wine bar mentality and the latest trend. Infact, the new Scruffy Murphy's! So I give it four years before
it's something else. Click here if you're wondering about the name. |
