| A cosy, compact pub that looks well tended, clean and friendly. There's a coal
effect gas fire in the lounge, which was a welcome sight on the cold and rainy Saturday afternoon I dropped in.
I popped my head into the adjacent bar, which fairly sparkled and must rank as one of the most polished in town.
Someone cares about their standards in this place. Clientelle was mainly middle-aged, and a plaque above the mantlepiece
was an award to the best landlady in town from "the boys". I guessed the boys would all be about fifty.
I sat and read a book for half an hour, enjoying the peace and quiet. God, I'm getting past it. |
