Wildes

Jim's York Pub Guide

Wildes
Small and cramped bistro quite close to its counterpart, Oscars. Wildes. Gettit? Noisy and busy when we visited on a Saturday night, but we were still able to find a seat. I needed one when I realised what they were charging for a bottle of Becks - £2.20!! Perhaps this is the going rate. I don't usually drink label beers, and they did have Becks on draught, but I took this option. I bought a second to check it was correct. Years ago, you could have bought Oscar Wilde for that.
Plenty of food advertised on blackboards, and it looked the usual fare - Mexican, pasta, sandwiches etc.. I may visit again when there are less braying (rich) students in, because I quite liked the location and simple layout, and fancied some of the food on offer. But I won't be buying bottled Becks.
