| I went back to Yates' on the recomendation of the girl who cuts what left of my hair - she said it had recently been done up, and so it has. Whether or not it's an improvment, I'm not so sure. Paintwork is predominately bile green and blood red, and you get the impression that the designers have tried to cover all the bases, incorporating the big comfy sofas on stripped wood flooring in one area, bar stools clustered around high tables in a different tiled area and small easy chairs clustered within a carpeted lounge. Yates' is mobbed most weekends, and when I visited on a mid-Monday afternoon it was busier than 90% of pubs, maybe due to the cheap drink offers that run all day. The punters drinking their boredom away had a look that made you concentrate on the floor most of the time, and if you'd like an idea of their approach have a read at my Guestbook. Notwithstanding that, Yates offers a more down to earth night out than that found in Pitcher and Piano or Bar Ha Ha, so it's ideal for Stag or Hen nights and your liable to have a better rowdy night in here than in the majority of big corporate pub chains. | ||
