The Bootham Tavern

Jim's York Pub Guide

Bootham
Plain and simple pub on the way to Bootham Bar, you can nearly see it on the left in the picture. Nearly. Recently refurbished, the place was gleaming when I popped in for a jar on a Friday evening. (There's a kebab shop across the road which serves good Balti's and they take about twenty minutes to cook. An excellent excuse, if one were needed). It could be quite gloomy due to the dark wood and furnishings, but the sun streamed through the front windows when I was there and emphasised the newness, a big improvement on what it was. The regulars will hate it of course. Much better selection of beer too, and I think this will become my preferred haunt on Bootham.
