The Cock and Bottle

Jim's York Pub Guide

The Cock and Bottle
Smallish pub down near the River Ouse, which underwent a "relaunch" to Villiers, but reopened under the original name after a severe flooding of the Ouse caused a refurbishment. I quite like this pub as it's relaxed, unpretentious and is near a kebab house. It was one of the first I had a pint in when I moved to the city, and you get the feeling it will be here for a long time yet. I used to wonder about the name, until I read this.
