| It's funny how pubs in the same street can have markedly different clientelle.
I visited this after a quick jar in the Fox and Roman, with its Mercedes CLK's in the car park, to visit this one
five hundred yards along the road and a car park full of brickies' vans. Definately more rough and ready, this
place seems to cater for those more interested in drink than in food. Not my kind of drink though - fridges full
of Moscow Mule, Budweiser etc behind the bar and no real ale at all. I consoled myself with a John Smith's Smooth
and read posters of the heavily advertised sporting highlights to come on Sky. Behind me, slot machines jangled
and I could see a hotly contested game of pool being played in a far corner. A lot of the punters seemed to know
one another, and I guessed it would busier than the other pub later on. Whether you'd feel as welcome in it is
a different matter. |
