| Yes, another firkin Firkin pub. Isn't the Firkin so "youth", a bit like French
Connection U.K., or FCUK to you and I? Isn't it just witty, clever and appealing? No, it firkin isn't. So what's in a name? Well, a lot of space inside this one, with wooden floors, tables and seats like church benches, guaranteeing numb arse before numb brain. But perhaps they don't want you to sit, as there's music pumping through the sound system, video machines, slots, newspapers to attempt reading (which I like in a pub, being a sad and lonely pub reviewer) and various pamphlets extolling the virtues of York lying around. If, however, you're looking for a lunchtime drink with something to eat, you could choose worse than here. Okay, it's not home cooking, but the menu's not bad, they've a decent wine list and a good selection of coffees which are brewed up and don't come at the push of a button. |
