Plonkers

Jim's York Pub Guide

plonkers
I've been popping in here on and off for the past few years, and I like it better each time I visit. It seems to be getting increasingly busier, people perhaps being attracted by the variety of drinks on offer, the lively atmosphere, the choice of food and the proximity to many other establishments that are a bit like one another when Plonkers is a bit different.

They've a Thai restaurant upstairs, one of only two in the city. I especially liked the sound of "Chicken Wings of Time", which competes with the "Toilet Duck of Destiny" to be found in the bogs. It's also the nearest thing to a wine bar down near the river, and therefore attracts quite a lot of the nearby theatre crowd before and after performances, but also offers plenty of vodka drinks and the like for those out on the town.
